1. Scenic joy flight with Greg Mortimer OAM

Greg Mortimer OAM is a pioneering Australian mountaineer, adventurer, and environmentalist. He is best known as one of the first two Australians to summit Mount Everest without supplemental oxygen in 1984, completing the climb via a new route on the mountain’s North Face—an extraordinary achievement in international mountaineering history. Mortimer has also made notable ascents of Annapurna II and K2, and went on to found Aurora Expeditions, a company known for its commitment to environmentally responsible adventure travel. In recognition of his contributions to exploration and conservation, he was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in 1989.

A passionate aviator as well, Mortimer owns a Cessna aeroplane and continues to explore the world from above. As a generous supporter of Kate Hook’s campaign, he is offering a two-hour scenic joy flight valued at $1000 around the Calare electorate as a prize in the fundraiser raffle. This unique experience is a rare opportunity to take in the breathtaking landscapes of the region from the air, hosted by one of Australia’s most celebrated adventurers.

2. Greg Hyde Limited Edition Print- Bathurst Panorama

Greg and his family live on a small farm outside Bathurst. The family created a home which expresses a love of the places that they have visited, and a commitment to a lifestyle which is in harmony with the Australian environment. Greg’s paintings reflect this harmony.

He has developed a style which combines his love of the European tradition with an insightful use of the natural features and cultural phenomena of traditional and modern Australia to create a personal iconography. Greg works in various media from oils to etchings and has illustrated several children’s books.

Greg has had one-man exhibitions in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra and Brisbane and regularly participates in group exhibitions throughout Australia. He has exhibited in the Wynne and Archibald Prizes and his work is represented in many Australian and overseas collections.

Greg’s work is usually colourful, often whimsical, and carries a twist of pseudo-intellectual aestheticism.

Greg Hyde’s Limited Edition Prints are, in most cases, digitally reproduced images taken from original drawings, paintings, etchings or mixed compilations.

This piece comes framed and is valued at ~$400 unframed. A masterpiece worthy of admiring!

Dimensions 81 x 71 cm framed

4. Payu Napaltjarri artwork: Pitupi

Generously donated by Fran and Iain McPherson, this painting depicts designs relating to the rockhole site of Karrilwarra, which is west of the Kiwirrkura Community in Western Australia.

This site has a dreaming that relates to the journey of two kuniya (python) ancestors who travelled to Karrilwarra from far in the east.

The lines depict the surrounding tali (sandhills) in this area. During ancestral times a large group of women camped in the same area before continuing their travels further east to the site of Marrapinti, and later north-east to Wilkinkarra (Lake Mackay). While at Karrilwarra the women dug for edible tubers know as yunala from the bush banana vine Marsdenia australis.

5. Six mixed RIKARD Wines & a wine tasting for two people

Yet another offering from the multigenerational and very active volunteer family the Rikard-Bells.

WHO ARE RIKARD WINES

"We are producers of tiny parcels of ultra-premium, hand crafted wines from selected cool climate sites within the Orange wine region of NSW. It is the passionate endeavour of award winning winemaker William Rikard-Bell and his wife Kimberley.

We love Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. We focus on making them because no other varieties reflect a sense of place quite like they do. And we love what can be done with them in Orange. Orange’s high altitude vineyards are difficult to replicate anywhere else in the country and make for exciting wines.

We strive to inspire confidence and push the limits of what’s possible for the Orange wine region."

8. A dozen Macquariedale wines

Another iconic local winery, Macquariedale has kindly donated 12 bottles of wine to the fundraiser raffle.

Organic, biodynamic, low preservative, vegan-friendly, natural wines. At Macquariedale Organic Wines we follow a passion for natural winemaking, specialising in converting small parcels of grapes into the most delicious natural wines available in Australia.

In 2005 Macquariedale Organic Wines became the first vineyard in the Hunter Valley to receive full Biodynamic/Organic Certification. Farming Biodynamic was a lifestyle choice and to improve the soil and land as we farm it is a must for us. Certified Biodynamic/Organic means all products used in the vineyard (and in our case our whole property) are all natural and do not contain synthetic chemicals, herbicides, pesticides or systemic chemicals. The results of these practises is that the produce is grown the way nature intended, retaining its fullness of flavour, richness of colour and diversity or aromas of the terroir. By practising sustainable viticulture, we secure a better and healthier future for our land, our plants, ourselves and for you, our customers.

11. A mixed dozen of Ross Hill wines

Australia’s 1st “Climate Active” Certified Carbon Neutral Winery

Ross Hill Wines has long been committed to sustainability and has introduced measures to reduce the company’s carbon footprint, such as efficient use of operational resources, decreasing tractor hours and installing solar power. After six years of hard work, dedication and determination, Ross Hill Wines was recognised in 2016 as the only wine company, registered with the Australian Federal Government as an NCOS certified carbon neutral winery. This has been superseded by the Climate Active Program.

As the wines produced here are recognised as carbon neutral too, when you’re next enjoying a sublime glass of Ross Hill wine you are also doing your bit for the environment – and that’s got to be a feeling that washes down well!
