Here in the Central West, we feed the nation, and we help keep the lights on. We look out for each other, and we deserve a government that gets behind us.
After years of failure to plan for climate and our regional economy, we have to ask, who are our political parties really working for?
The Nationals are no longer the party of food and fibre, they’re more interested in mining and nuclear. Peter Dutton has even said he’ll force a nuclear plant on our doorstep. One that won’t be built for more than a decade so won’t do anything for bills now, and what jobs it would create would go to nuclear-qualified workers from Germany, South Korea and Japan – not to local kids. The types of governments we’ve seen over the last decade can’t even manage a decent broadband or vaccine rollout. What government would you trust with a nuclear power plant on our doorstep?
Politicians keep saying we have to put our economy before our environment. They should look around: our economy is our environment. We live in one of the top two areas in Australia set to benefit in the new economy. We could be setting ourselves up for well-paid jobs and new income streams in agriculture, manufacturing and energy.
This election, choose a leader who has the courage of their convictions – who says what they mean, and does what they say. Who’s here for the right reasons and focused on the future. Who will put people before the party; representing us, and only us.
We know that if we vote the same, we get the same. So this election, we’re choosing a fresh start for Calare.
